On this day (October 24), 15 years ago, the British Aerospace Corporation Aérospatiale Concorde flew for the last time. Concorde G-BOAF landed in London Heathrow International Airport after a flight from New York.
The image that I made was relatively straightforward. It was simply tedious to create the textures for the plane in Photoshop. After the final render, I added surface imperfections, color correction, and smoke in Photoshop. To give the image a sense of scale, I added traffic cones and a forklift. The forklift is a model I pulled from BlendSwap.
Concorde was a marvel of engineering. It remains the fastest internationally used passenger plane ever built. Riding Concorde was a privilege of only a select few, but it received fanfare that made a ticket everyone’s desire. Alas, after the crash of Air France 4590 and a decrease in overall profitability, Concorde flew its last on October 24, 2018.
May you rest in peace, Concorde. May your legacy live forever.
