This animation is inspired by a Dungeons and Dragons campaign I played a while ago. We fought a pumpkin monster called the "Gourd Lord," and I decided to make an animation on what it might have looked and sounded like.
I drew inspiration from video game bosses such as Thardus, a boss in Metroid Prime, and Bouldergeist, a boss in Super Mario Galaxy. I also looked up "Pumpkin Monster" on various art websites to see what others had made.
This was my first time using Mixamo, a motion capture animation library. The "get up" and "roar" animations are both from Mixamo. I had to rig the face manually, and that proved to be quite a challenge. Still, I am very happy with the result.
