A postcard featuring Art-Deco skyscrapers, a tall statue waving the Panem flag, and a steam train
In anticipation of the upcoming film "The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes," I made a postcard showing what a visitor from Panem might purchase. The Capitol would circulate exaggerated propaganda showing an idealized version of the dystopian city.
I drew inspiration from Art-Deco architecture, Streamline Moderne, and mid-century Disneyland posters. The steam locomotive is designed after the Pennsylvania class S1. To make the illustration look old, I added noise and painted the surface with cloud brushes in Photoshop.
